The new cabinet named by PM Zapatero contains nine women and eight men, the first female majority ever in Spain, showing the government’s commitment to gender equality. Various new ministries have been created, including a ministry of Equality headed by 31 year old Cadiz woman Bibiana Aido, the youngest ever cabinet member since the beginning of democracy here.  The situation is repeated in the state government of Andalucia, with eight women to seven men.
