Baby Cheque Boom
According to new statistics, mid-April 2008 saw more than 10,000 families in the province of Malaga receive the 2,500 euros from the government for a new baby or adoption. This adds up to around 25 million euros. The benefit, which has become known as the baby cheque, came in to force in July last year. The 2,500 euros increases to 3,500 in the case of families with three or more children and single-parent families.
